Hope and Trust

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:  “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).  When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.

Matthew 1:21-24

Today’s post is a video from The Bishop of Lewes, Richard Jackson, you can watch his reflection on hope by clicking on the picture above.

Richard became the Bishop of Lewes in May of ths year. He is very enthusiastic about a mission that flows from a deep relationship with God and conviction of our hope in Jesus rather than glib techniques. He is married to Deborah who is part of the Point Church and has three nearly grown up children.

Richard suggests that we might like to take away and think about the idea of what we can have certainty in. For many, ‘certainty’ or having trust, is a really difficult thing.

We might have been let down by people or organisations in the past, and that can lead us to be wary of others, or of opening up, or of simply trusting people. Today, we’d love to encourage you to share with someone, what YOU trust in. Is it friends? or family? or is it like Richard, having a certainty in knowing God?

Have a think and get sharing.

Today we’ll be using the hashtag #MyTrustIsIn so if you are on social media, you can share your thoughts online and join in…
